In
2009, Leader Dogs for the Blind will
be celebrating their 70th
anniversary providing the blind and
visually impaired with dog guides.
In celebration of Leader Dog’s 70th
anniversary, Lions Clubs making a
donation of $70 more than their
previous year’s contribution will
receive a commemorative “70 for 70”
patch (shown above) for their club
banner and a pin of the same design
for each club member.
As
District chair I’m challenging each
club in the district to increase the
donation they made last year by the
$70. I would like to see our
District 22D participate100% toward
the “70 for 70” program.
PDG Bob Jones.

The following books, written by
James D. Meehan and published by
Harold E. Dukes are being sold
by the LBLC as a fund raiser to
help support our many charities.
The cost is the same amount you
would pay in any book store, but
Mr. Meehan is donating part of
the sale price to the Lord
Baltimore Lions Charities.
"MY, BUT THE WIND DID
BLOW", a maritime history of
storms and ship wrecks along the
DE coast. Cost is $35.00.
"WHEN LIFE WAS A DAY AT THE
BEACH", the oral history of
70 long time residents with
pictures of the men and women
who helped build the Delaware
shore. Cost is $40.00.
"BETHANY BEACH MEMOIRS",
a wonderful collection of photos
that detail the 20's and 30's
through the war years up to
present time. Cost is $40.00
Any of these can be purchased
through a LBLC member or by
calling Bill Evans at 539-1376.

For the past sixteen years a
group of Laurel teens has been
supporting the local Lions Club
through volunteer efforts. The
Laurel Leo Club was
established in 1992 as an
extension of the Lions Club.
Since then the group has
expanded and become an active
and vital part of the community.
