District Governor Ken Chews Message (April 2012):
The “Chew, Chew” express train is still rolling down the tracks but the next Station is just around the bend. We
have now completed all of the Lions Club visitations, three of the five Lioness Club visitations, and the last of the
five sub district socials. Now begins some of the fun attending club Charter Nights and the Multiple District
Convention in May. These events will provide us the opportunity to thank the Lions of District 22D who have
worked so hard to make this such a fantastic Lions year for First Lady, Lion Marie Chew and myself.
The month of May has two very important events taking place with the Multiple District Convention and the
District Training Session taking place. The Multiple District Convention on May 9-12 in Salisbury is an important
District event, not just for the awards and celebrations but for the seminars and voting that will take place there.
Please consider coming to the Convention, joining in the celebration of service, learning more about Lionism, and
voting yes on the District and Multiple District Constitutional changes. We need you all there!
The District Training for next year’s officers has been significantly changed and improved for this year by District
GLT Chair, PDG Ralph Schieferstein. The school will be held on Saturday, May 19th with a morning and
afternoon session and a luncheon in between the two sessions. All club officers elect should attend this training
session and there will be more classes for every Lion in the District. Look for more details in this bulletin.
First Lady, Lion Marie Chew and I looking forward to visiting the Lions Clubs in the District at your Charter Nights,
Installation of Officers, or other of your club events as our very full schedule will allow us. We both enjoyed the
four Charter Nights that we have attended, the installation of the Caesar Rodney Leo Club, and Region 3 ramp
building event. Just give us a call and we will try to make a train stop at your local station.
